About

Award-Winning Writer and Editor

Martha W. Murphy’s first book was published in 1991 and since then she has written or co-written scores of books and magazine articles. In addition to her own narrative non-fiction writing, she works with other writers—as an editor, developmental editor, co-writer, ghost-writer, book writing coach and advisor—providing the help needed to bring a writer’s work to publication. She has expertise in a broad range of topics, including: health, food, business, healthcare and medicine, memoir, how-to, self-help, and marketing.

Since 2007, she has served on the faculty for the annual Harvard Medical School-sponsored CME course, Writing, Publishing, and Social Media for Healthcare Professionals. She is a writing instructor at the University of Rhode Island’s Harrington School of Communication and Media, and has taught in the continuing education program at Brown University. She is the executive editor for four healthcare newsletters, and an award-winning healthcare communications and marketing professional.

She is regularly engaged by literary agents, publishing house editors, and professionals from diverse occupations to help develop a book concept, write a book proposal, polish a book manuscript, co-author a book—whatever it takes to bring a book to life. Books are her passion, and she brings exceptional experience, in-depth knowledge, motivation, and enthusiasm to every project.

She lives in southern New England but, thanks to the Internet, she works with writers across North America and beyond.
